EUR 50 00 EUR
Itinerary: Cluj Napoca- Salt Mine Turda- Alba Iulia- Cluj-Napoca Lunch at Sarea-n Bucate or Pub 13

Turda Salt Mine

After we start from our day we will go to Turda Salt Mine. During the middle Ages, Turda was very rich due to the salt mines that were found here. During Roman times, these mines were exploited and the salt produced here was taken to Rome. Later, the mines became prisons for the most feared bandits. Few people managed to come out alive from this “prisons”, the majority being condemned to work here for their entire live.

Since 1992, Salina Turda has been a halo-therapy centre and a popular tourist attraction. Moreover, it is an open history museum for anyone willing to connect the salt extraction with the events that occurred during Roman occupation in Dacia . After mining having ceased there in 1931, today the Turda Salt Mine is the history museum of Salt exploitation.

Besides its curative benefits, The Salt Mine offers a spectacular subterranean space. Inside you can enjoy the benefits of curative, salty air of the mine well known for the treatment of various respiratory diseases. You can also admire the mine itself and enjoy the various recreational activities that are available.

Alba Iulia

We will take the lunch at Pub 13 in Alba Iulia City, and after that we will visit Alba Iulia Fortress.
Alba Iulia is situated in the heart of Romania and is the spiritual capital of the country, is called “the city of the three citadels” because throughout the centuries it was a roman castrum, a medieval “burg” and then an 18th century “Vauban” citadel.

The Alba Iulia citadel, designed by Italian architect Giovanni Morando Visconti, was built between 1716 and 1735, using the Vauban military architectural system—the largest of this kind in Southeastern Europe. The fortress is outstanding both for its architectural elements and for the beauty of its six gates, unique in European military structures. Doubtless the artists, sculptors Johann Koning, Johan Vischer and Giuseppe Tencalla, had been inspired by ancient mythology.About 7.2 miles of ramparts made of brick and quarry stones form a seven-point star shape with seven bastions (Eugene of Savoia, St. Stefan, The Trinity, St. Michael, St. Carol, St. Capistrano and St. Elisabeth) guarded by six monumental gates.

The gates, valuable samples of early baroque style, have served as a model for 18th century Transylvanian architecture. Our day will finished in Cluj-Napoca city.
